Each time you request a meal experience through the Table Dot platform, you will see a pending transaction for the estimated amount. This is not an additional charge, it’s just a temporary hold used to verify your card is valid for the estimated amount. Once the chef buys the actual groceries using our Chef Shopper credit card and completes the meal experience, your card will be charged. How long will this be held? If you see a pending amount, it will be removed by your card issuer within 3-5 business days, and your card will never actually be charged until after the meal experience is completed. The hold will never actually process, but may remain listed as pending after the actual charge is processed. This will depend on your bank’s policies. Please contact your bank for more information about their authorization timeframes and policies.

Unfortunately calories coming from foods at restaurants has grown in recent years. Simply put…food prepared at home is more healthy and has fewer calories. “When people cook most of their meals at home, they consume fewer carbohydrates, less sugar and less fat than those who cook less or not at all – even if they are not trying to lose weight,” says Julia A. Wolfson, MPP, a CLF-Lerner Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future and lead author of a study from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. The benefits don’t stop there. Food’s prepared at home have more fiber, calcium, and iron. Plus, cooking at home has been linked to more consumption of fruits, veggies, and whole grains. The study also pointed out that those who did eat more frequently at home, ate fewer calories when they did choose to eat out. Cool right! Preparing food at home could help with chronic disease prevention such as heart disease, diabetes, strokes, and gastrointestinal cancers.
According to a 2015 Business Insider article by Ashley Lutz, the average per person ticket for a restaurant is around $14.00. With many full restaurants most frequented by Americans, averaging in the $16 to $20 range. Although the food selection and style impact price significantly we can honestly say you can eat well, with custom crafted meals in your home, (including complete cleanup) for as little at $12 per person. You’re on-demand between work, family, friends, shopping, and planning; so why can’t your dining experiences be as well? In our fast-paced society, convenience meals, aka foods made at home that are simple and pretty humdrum are the norm. You know tacos, pizza, spaghetti; fast, simple and easy to make quickly at home. BUT…do you and your family desire something a bit more tasty during the week? Those tasty meals take a little more time; between buying the groceries & ingredients, preparation, cooking and then cleaning up. Not including grocery shopping time, those tastier meals are going to cost you over 45 minutes to an hour to craft each. Wouldn’t you rather have one or two of those nights per week really focusing on spending time with family & friends over a good meal, prepared completely for you in your own home?
